James Vincent Treacy, 84, of Westerleigh passed away on Oct. 8, 2016. He was born in Manhattan and was a proud graduate of Cardinal Hayes High school.
James was a Navy veteran who served during the Korean War on the U.S.S. Halfbeak submarine. After his time in the Navy, he worked as a stationary engineer for the City of New York.
He resided in Brooklyn for over 43 years and was a parishioner of OLPH. When he moved to Staten Island in 2006, he became a parishioner of Saint Rita's Church....

James Vincent Treacy, 84, of Westerleigh passed away on Oct. 8, 2016. He was born in Manhattan and was a proud graduate of Cardinal Hayes High school.
James was a Navy veteran who served during the Korean War on the U.S.S. Halfbeak submarine. After his time in the Navy, he worked as a stationary engineer for the City of New York.
He resided in Brooklyn for over 43 years and was a parishioner of OLPH. When he moved to Staten Island in 2006, he became a parishioner of Saint Rita's Church. James loved the New York Yankees and Starbucks, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was also an active member of AA with 45 years of sober living.
He was married for 59 years to Regina (Daken). He also leaves behind his children and their spouses: James and Kathryn Treacy, Gina and John Mankowski, Christine and Anthony Pizzariello, Maryellen and Patrick Rooney, and Emelia and Jack Coonts. He was a loving Pop Pop to Eva and James Treacy, Stephen, Melissa, Andrew, Alyson, John and Adam Mankowski, Maeve and Fiona Rooney, and Connor, Elizabeth and Jake Coonts, and great grandpa to Christian, Connor, Noah, and Leah.
His surviving siblings are Ann Nestor and Jack Treacy. James was predeceased by his daughter, Jacqueline Ann; his parents, Michael and Ellen Treacy; and siblings, Stephen, Michael, Thomas, Margaret and Ellen. The wake will be held at Casey Funeral Home on Tuesday, Oct. 11, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, Oct. 12, at 10 a.m. at St. Rita's, 281 Bradley Ave.
